Why I chose the name Sonhe Collective: The story behind the dream
Kayla- Sonhe Collective on 17th Jul 2025
Every business has a beginning, and at the heart of mine is a single word: Sonhe.
Pronounced son-yay, it’s a Portuguese word that translates to dream. And it’s not just the name of my brand—it’s the essence of what I’ve built, what I believe in, and what I want to share with the world.
A Dream, in Every Sense
Sonhe Collective was born from a deeply personal place. It started as a dream to create something meaningful—something that blends beauty and purpose, luxury and comfort, and above all, inclusivity in fragrance.
But the word Sonhe holds even more weight for me. It’s a bridge between my personal life and my business—between my heritage and the future I’m building.
My husband is from Portugal. his culture, his language, and his warmth have become a cherished part of my life. When it came time to name my business, I knew I wanted it to reflect not just my vision, but also our story—one rooted in love, family, and the shared dream of building something beautiful together.
So, I chose Sonhe.
Using a Portuguese word to name my brand was more than a tribute—it was a way to anchor this business in something real. A reminder that this is more than just candles and fragrances. This is my dream made tangible.
The Collective: A Place for Everyone
The word Collective is just as intentional. Fragrance is deeply personal, but I didn’t want to create a brand that was exclusive or limited. I wanted everyone to feel welcome here—to find a scent that speaks to them, to feel seen in a space where luxury isn’t about status, but about soul.
The Sonhe Collective is for men who love soft florals. For women who crave deep, smoky woods. For homes that echo with laughter, solitude, creativity, or calm. It’s a collection designed to be as diverse and dynamic as the people who use it.
A Dream Made Reality
There’s something powerful about naming your dream out loud. It gives it shape. It gives it wings.
When you light one of our candles, spray a scent into your living room, or place a reed diffuser in your hallway, you’re not just filling your space with fragrance—you’re inviting a dream in. You’re creating mood, memory, and meaning.
And in doing that, you become part of my dream too.
Sonhe Collective isn’t just what I call my business—it’s a daily reminder of why I started it.
It reminds me of my family, of late-night brainstorming sessions, of carefully testing scents until they feel just right. It reminds me of my roots, of my vision, and of every person who brings these products into their home.
This is my dream. And I’m honored to share it with you.
